B2B BUYER GUIDE · STEEL FURNITURE
OEM vs ODM for Steel Furniture
OEM and ODM describe different starting points for a sourcing conversation, but neither label guarantees a particular factory capability. This guide explains how buyers can define a brief and how LEADTOP coordinates feasibility checks with the relevant cooperating supplier.

OEM: start from your defined product
An OEM brief commonly begins with buyer-owned drawings, a reference model or a detailed specification. Share revision-controlled drawings, target market, finish, packaging and acceptance requirements. Confirm intellectual-property permissions and which party approves changes.
ODM: start from a product concept
An ODM discussion may begin with a functional need, reference image or candidate profile. The supplier must review what can be adapted, what remains standard and what requires new tooling or validation. No customization is confirmed until feasibility, cost and schedule are documented.
Use a gated review process
First align the product and target market. Next review drawings, samples or finish references where relevant. Then confirm the specification, inspection points, packaging and commercial terms in writing. Production should proceed only after the buyer approves the agreed documents and order.
Clarify responsibility and change control
Record drawing ownership, permitted use, sample sign-off, inspection scope, change approval and the version used for production. Identify the actual production source and responsible contact for each order; LEADTOP coordinates the request and does not represent every partner capability as universal.
Questions buyers ask
Does OEM or ODM mean LEADTOP owns the factory?
No. LEADTOP is a trade and manufacturing coordination business working with cooperating factories. The relevant production source is confirmed for each product and order.
Can any existing product be customized?
No. Feasibility depends on the selected model, supplying factory, quantity, tooling and destination requirements. Each request needs written confirmation.
What should be approved before production?
Approve the quoted model, controlled drawing or specification, finish, inspection scope, packaging, quantity, schedule and change process applicable to that order.
Prepare a specific request
Share your product reference, approximate quantity, destination and key requirements. LEADTOP will confirm model availability and order details for that inquiry.

Practical Buyer Questions
Does OEM or ODM mean every customization is available?
No. Feasibility, development work, tooling, samples and commercial conditions are reviewed for the specific product and request. Neither label is a blanket capability promise.
When should a sample be approved?
Agree its purpose and approval checkpoint. Record the features it confirms, unresolved items and how changes will be reviewed.
What should a repeat custom order reference?
Use the approved drawing and specification revision, finish, hardware and relevant sample or approval record, then identify any requested change.
